මගේ ඊජිප්තු ජාතික මිතුරකු වන Samer Azmyට මෙහෙම අත්දැකීමක් වෙලා තියෙනවා. අපේ රටේ හුඟක් බැංකුවලත් ATM යන්තරවල පාවිච්චි කරන්නේ MS Windows. මං හිතන්නේ ඒක හැමෝම වගේ දැනගත යුතු කාරණයක්. පහත තියෙන screen shots වලින් වැඩේ හොඳට බලාගන්න පුළුවන්. මොකද මේවා හැමදාම දකින්න ලැබෙන්නේ නෑ. ඉතිං මම කියන්න හදන්නේ අපි කොච්චර අවදානමකද ඉන්නේ මේ වගේ ප්‍රශ්ණ ඇතිවෙනකොට? හිතලා බලලා අදහස් ලියන්න. (කොච්චර හොඳ anti virus software එකක් දැම්මත් ගැලවිල්ලක් නෑ) මගේ මිතුරා කියන්නේ මේකට එකම විසඳුම Linux භාවිතය කියලයි. ඔහු ඒකට උදව් කරන්නත් ලෑස්තියි. මාත් එහෙමයි හිතන්නේ. ඔබ හිතන්නේ???

ඔය පරිඝනක වලට ලිනක්ස් දැමීම නම් හොඳ වැඩක්. හැබැයි ප්‍රශ්නෙ තියෙන්නෙ ඒකෙ වැඩකරන මෘදුකාංගය ලිනක්ස් වලට දුවන්නෙ නැතිකම.

-- It doesnt mean windows is the best. compare with all the OSs populerity,windows is the most.. so lot of ppl can only see windows issues.But compare with the individual attacks, linux is the most. right now I dont have the Independant body URL for this, Will try to find and post it...

මෙතන තියෙන අවශ්‍යතාව අනුව නම් ගැළපෙන්නේ ලිනක්ස් තමයි.
It is not prevent whether installed any good virus software to Windows platform ATM machines, any time it can be attacked
But we have to update any security patches from time to time and we can minimize the treats.

The reasons for less no of viruses written for Linux are
1. Smaller global percentage of market share
Even currently 90% of the global market share is windows family. One of the objective of virus writers is to affecting as many as people possible. So it is not economical to write viruses for Linux
2. Diversity of Linux flavours.
Even though we tell Linux in general (more accurately GNU/Linux) the diversity of Linux kernel based GNU OSes are high. (rpm based, deb based etc ...) .
It make writing application ring viruses far less economical to virus writers objective.
But in Windows family such kind of diversity does not exist & which make the job of malware writers more easy.
How ever this protection in Linux does not true for Kernel ring.
